I had a couple of questions after my last post about Google places, so I thought I would discuss it a bit more.
OK…So you\’ve done your research and decided that a Google Places listing is the next obvious step in modernizing your business\’s marketing scheme. Now it\’s time to set up your Places page and optimize it so you can get the best results for your efforts. There are a number of ways you can create a Places page for your business that will get noticed and that will yield customer return. Your Google Places listing should include these five things:
Put your exact business name in the Google Places Listing accurately. What you wrote in the page should be the one that appeared in the business license. Do not put other taglines, links or whatever additional name you have in mind because Google will surely take out from the list.
With your business name, comes the business location. This is as important as that of the name itself. You must post the physical address, where your actual company is really located and do not attempt to include post office boxes. Google will definitely remove your name in the list which nullifies all your efforts. Having more than one location is not a dilemma. You just have to create another Google Places listing.
Always provide contact information. This pertinent information should include the telephone number for your business where someone could be reached anytime, for as long as it is business hours. Do not also forget to post your company\’s website and email address.
Google Places Listing will include business categories. Since Google will allow you to choose to a maximum of five categories for your business, do not fill up everything. You can simply choose one and have the most hits. Keep away from using customized category names, since it would not be noticed at all by Google.
Your business description counts a lot. Prepare a moving business description that will attract visitors. The purpose of your business is essential. Be sure to impart it in such a way that it signifies and stirs up interest. Photos and video are helpful in presenting your business description perfectly. The purpose of the Google Places page is primarily to drive business into your company and not the other way around.
