My Free List of Travel Tips

Here are some tips I have compiled on how to get the most bang for your buck when traveling. You can always save when you travel if you know the secrets of the industry. Since I work in the travel business and spend most of my time on the road I figured I would share some tips.

Traveling Abroad

There are three things you can do to save when traveling overseas. If you can travel only to countries where their currency is closest to the dollar, exchange rate is near 1. Find all inclusive packages ones that include at a minimum board and food. Ask a travel agents about off season destinations that are less traveled at the time you are traveling.

Saving on Lodging

Ask for an upgrade upon arrival at the hotel, book the minimum room you need before going. Find hotels where children stay without charge. Find a hotel with a kitchenette at a minimum so you can cook instead of eating out. Find hotels that offer free breakfast so at least one meal is paid for.

Stay in the middle of the week if at all possible. Unless you are going to a heavy commerce area rates are usually cheaper during the week. Skip alcohol and have your main meal in the middle of the day when prices are cheaper. Consider camping, you might save a lot of money camping as opposed to hotels.

Other tips and tricks

Get travel insurance. This stuff can save you a lot of money. When the swine flu broke out the people who had cancel for any reason had the most pricey up front fees, but saved a ton of money when they didnt desire to go. Find airports that are outside of the city to save a little on the flights. If you can add a personal trip to a business trip to either make it a tax deduction or less flights to buy. As long as you spend 4 hours a day working it is considered a business day and is tax deductible if you own your own business. If you dont have a business, consider volunteering these trips are also possibly tax deductible.
