Picking the right product to promote is essential to succeed with affiliate marketing. There are millions of internet-marketing products out there, but not all of them will make you money. Some products are terrible and don’t work as promised. Another product might be great, but its landing page leaves something to desired so visitors are scared away. To make money with affiliate marketing, you need to find a product that’s proven to sell well. Why promote something that nobody wants to buy?

To find that right product to promote, we’re going to use the Clickbank affiliate network. Although there are several excellent affiliate networks out there, Clickbank is one of the best for beginners. They have an enormous selection of affiliate marketing products to sell, they always pay out on time, and it is easy to get accepted into the network. Unlike other affiliate networks that make you apply to promote specific offers, Clickbank lets you promote all offers on their network immediately.

Your first step when deciding on a product to promote, is to decide a niche. The best way to do this is to brainstorm and write down five or ten niches you think you would enjoy finding more about. When creating your site around a product, you will be spending a lot of time with it, so make sure the topics are something you can have fun with.

Once you have your topics, go login to your Clickbank account and visit the Marketplace section. Clickbank has its products divided into categories, so pick an appropriate category and perform a search for each of your topics. In the search results, you will see a list of products that Clickbank sells that best match your search term. Underneath each product description, you will see a number of different metrics.

The key metric to look at, is the gravity score. Gravity basically shows you how many affiliates have made sales with this product recently. If a lot of people are making sales with this product then this says you can probably do well selling this product as well. As a rule of thumb, try and pick a product with a gravity score over 50. The other thing to look at is the dollars per sale. If you are going to use PPC marketing to drive traffic to your product, then pick a payout greater than $30 per sale. By choosing a high enough payout, you can cover any advertising expenses and make a good profit.

Using the two metrics talked about above, note down a list of products that satisfy these criteria. Now pick the product that you would be most interested in learning about and promoting. You already recognize that other affiliates are having success making money with these products, so the key here is picking the product that will keep your interest so you can promote it successfully. This is the first step towards making money online.

Choosing the right product to promote is the key to affiliate marketing success. There are thousands of internet-marketing products out around, but not all of them will make you money. To succeed with affiliate marketing, you need to find a product that’s proven to sell well. Why promote something that nobody is buying?

To find that right product to promote, we’re going to use the Clickbank affiliate network. Although there are several good affiliate networks out there, Clickbank is one of the best for beginners. In the search results, you will see a list of affiliate products that best match your search term. Underneath each product description, you will see a number of different metrics.

The key metric to look at, is the gravity score. Gravity is a Clickbank formula that tells you how many recent sales affiliates have been making with this product. If a lot of people are making sales with this product then you should have no problems promoting this product as well. Usually I try and pick a product with a gravity score over 45. The other metric to look at is the dollars per sale. If you are going to use PPC marketing to drive traffic to your product, then pick a payout greater than $25 per sale. This allows you to cover your advertising expenses and still make a decent profit.

Using the two metrics talked about above, jot down a list of products that meet these criteria. Now pick the one that you would be most interested in researching about and promoting. You already can tell that other affiliates are having success making money with these products, so the key here is picking the product that will keep your interest so you can promote it successfully. Once you have a PPC advertising campaign established, the work doesn’t end. In order to keep a campaign running smoothly, and make sure you are making the most profit possible, you will need to constantly make adjustments in a number of areas. A common area of focus will be keywords.

You will be using two different types of keywords. These are general, broad ranged keywords and the more targeted keywords.

The general keywords will be the ones which attract a lot of traffic but will generally lead to few sales as they may not actually be interested in your product. These keywords will be a much vaguer version of your desired field.

People using the niche keywords are more interested in your specific field. However, the niche keywords generally attract much less traffic. This decrease in traffic is usually offset by an increase in sales conversion.

Now that you understand the basic types of keywords you will know how to manage this important area of your PPC advertising campaign. One of the main reasons a campaign is not doing well is often due to keywords. Bear in mind if a keyword is not performing well and just getting clicks with no sales or leads you are throwing a lot of money down the drain.

Make sure to keep a close watch on your keywords. By using software provided by the PPC engine, such as Google Adwords, you can track how much traffic each of you keywords is bringing to your site.

The next thing you will have to look at is your sales conversions for your keywords. Because you are paying for every click that comes in, you want to make sure you are actually selling enough of your product to cover the cost of those clicks.

Thirdly check the cost per click as opposed to the sales per click; this will be your profits. How much are you bidding on a particular keyword? Is it converting enough sales to justify the bid? If not your PPC campaign is costing your too much money and needs to be adjusted so that you can profit and not lose money.

Another thing to consider is keyword trends. The word which people use to search for a particular topic can often change. When this happens your keywords will become more or less effective. Due to this you may need to alter bids to change positioning of those keywords.

Any keyword that is not pulling a profit needs to be analyzed carefully. Poor performing keywords need to be evaluated, using the criteria mentioned above. If necessary you will need to adjust the keywords. Do not delete them as search trends may vary and make the keywords useful again. Instead try to pause them and if necessary replace the keywords for better ROI.
