Many people in Hertfordshire are having new aerials installed because of the new digital switch over. As people prepare for the old analogue system being switched off they are purchasing Freeview boxes and finding that their current TV Aerials are providing robust enough digital signals, and they need an upgrade. Finding a TV aerial installer may not be a problem as there are plenty of them in the area, but finding a good one is what you want. We are honest when we say that in most cases you will need a new aerial if you need to call us out, but if there is just a loose connection or the aerial needs re aligning then we will do that and charge accordingly. If you don’t already have digital TV equipment then here are some options.

Freeview is a very popular way to watch digital TV as you don’t need much doing. It is the simplest way as long as your aerial gives a strong enough signal. You plug your aerial in the box and then plug the freeview box into the TV. Voila – you have digital. You get the normal channels plus a range of free to watch digital TV stations, and you can pay to watch more.

You can now get TVs with built in freeview, but many people don’t need to go to the expense of buying a new TV. You can pick up a freeiew box quite cheaply, even supermarkets are selling them at the minute.

Sky Dish – Sky will usually provide the dish and install it as part of an agreement you set up with them. There is a monthly cost to pick up their signal, but once you are out of your minimum term contract then you can pick up the usual free channels provided by Freeview – in effect using you Sky box as a freesat box.

Freesat is the name given to freeview but picked up by dish rather than through an aerial. This may be better if you have poor reception in your area as the signal comes from a satellite in space rather than being transmitted through the air.
